Leave it unpinned
A pinned icon is a clue. Skip the pin — the address bar and the shortcuts can open everything.

Open the panel
Click the extension icon, or type esc in the address bar and press Tab.

One tap, no password to remember. Your saved sites follow you to every device you sign in on.

Set your PIN
Four digits or more, asked once on your first sign-in. It guards the panel, not your Google account.

Choose a few topics and the setup wizard fills your shelf with sites worth starting from.
What it looks like in your extension list
Chrome shows it as Note — Incognito forgets, Nook remembers. There is no toolbar badge and no counter, so nothing announces itself while you work — but the listing itself is plain about what the extension is.
Shortcut keys
Everything Nook does, by key.
Two of these matter more than the rest: double-Esc to disappear, hold Ctrl + Alt to look without unlocking.

Panic hide. Double-tap and every private tab closes, the vault locks, and the trail behind them is wiped.
Alt+Shift+X
The same panic hide from the keyboard, even when the page has focus. Rebind it in chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

Cached data and history for pages saved in Bookmarks are purged automatically the moment you close them.

Hold to peek. The vault opens with no PIN. Let go within five seconds and it vanishes again — pick your own combo in Account.

01Which browsers does Nook work in?
Any Chromium browser running Manifest V3 extensions — Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera and Vivaldi. Safari and Firefox use different extension formats and are not supported today.
02Can someone tell I am using Nook?
The extension list names it, so anyone reading that page can see it installed. Everywhere else it stays quiet: no toolbar badge, no counter, no notifications. And seeing the extension is not the same as seeing inside it — without your PIN, the panel is a lock screen and the toolbar icon can be set to do nothing at all.
03Do I still need Incognito mode?
No. Incognito forgets everything the moment you close the whole window, which is all-or-nothing. Nook cleans up per site as you close it, so a normal window stays a normal window — with the parts you want gone already gone.
04What exactly gets erased?
The history entries and cached data for the sites you saved in Nook, cleared as those tabs close. Everything else in your browser is left untouched — Nook never touches the pages you visit normally.
05I forgot my PIN. What now?
Sign in with Google again and change it from Account → Quick-open PIN. The PIN guards the panel only, so your saved sites are never lost with it.
06Does it sync across my devices?
Yes. Your saved sites live with your account and your preferences ride Chrome’s own settings sync, so signing in on a second machine brings both across. Nook Plus covers up to ten devices.
07Will it slow my browsing down?
You should not notice it. The background worker sleeps until a shortcut, a timer or a tab close wakes it, and nothing is injected into pages you have not saved.
08What happens to my sites if I cancel?
Free accounts hold five sites, so anything above that is hidden, not deleted. Your five earliest stay visible, the rest sit quietly in the background and come straight back the moment you subscribe again.
09How do I cancel a subscription?
Open the panel → Account → Manage, which opens the billing portal where you can cancel, swap cards or download invoices. If the portal will not load, write in and it gets handled by hand.
10Can Nook see the sites I save?
Your saved sites sync through your account so they can reach your other devices. Your PIN is never sent to us — it rides Chrome's own settings sync instead, which is how the same PIN works on your other browsers. Nobody from Nook will ever ask you for it, including anyone claiming to be support.
